Hats Beth Makes: Pattern 1

In 2022, I decided to create a series of hat patterns meant to help knitters master two skills. Gauge and cables. Why those two?

First, if you haven’t mastered gauge, you’ll never purposefully make a piece that fits.

Second, cables look intimidating but are actually easy. And fun. So we’re combining a necessary skill with a fun skill to keep things interesting.

This pattern includes two sizes, which are determined by gauge & needle size. You’ll notice each size has a suggested needle size. It’s a suggestion only - if you don’t get gauge with the size I’ve indicated, you’ll need to change needle size until you do. Too many stitches in your gauge swatch? Size down. Not enough stitches? Size up.

Let’s get going.
